Daniel H. Bowers

Daniel H. Bowers, 88, passed away peacefully into the Lord’s arms on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. Dan was born on September 2, 1935 to John and Anna (Arnoldussen) Bowers. Dan graduated from Freedom High School and then served in the US Army. On May 21, 1960 he united in marriage to Elaine Green at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. He worked as a mason in construction and finally as a building engineer at Humana. Dan enjoyed fishing, coaching his kids, hunting, and playing softball with Shorty’s DX Team. Dan enjoyed watching his grandchildren at their sporting events. Summers at the cottage at Wheeler lake in Lakewood were treasured. After retirement, Dan and Elaine spent their winters in Florida where they made many friends and even more memories. He was a lifetime member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

Dan is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elaine, children; David (Beth) Bowers, Paul (Shelly) Bowers, Ken (Sally) Bowers, and twins Kim (Don) Dotson, and Kari Bowers, grandchildren; Andy, Jen, Nicole, Kevin, Melissa, Tara, Ryan, Amanda, Jonah, Dakota, Jacob, Emily, Connor, and Sophie, many great grandchildren, significant other of his son Bob who passed away; Lisa Schadrie and her children; Justin, Karley, and Allie, brother Glenn Bowers, sisters-in-law; Jo Ann Bowers, Bernie Green, Donna Woldt, brother-in-law James Golden, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his son Bob, mother-in-law and father-in-law; Norbert and Harriet Green, siblings; Rosie (Carl) Greiner, Joyce (Tom) Broeren, Harvey (Joan), LaVern, Elaine, Gordon, Vernon, Dorothy Bowers, Helen (Bill) Dachelet, sisters-in-law; Janet (Jim) Van Hoof, Joyce Golden, brothers-in-law; Bob Woldt, and Earl Green.

The memorial mass for Dan will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Rd S, Freedom. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. For online condolences please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
