Joyce Nackers, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. She was born October 16, 1926 in Freedom to William and Marie (Kortz) Geurts.

Joyce graduated from Freedom High School in 1943.

Joyce worked at Zwicker Knitting Mill, Appleton and Marathon Corp., Menasha.

On June 5th, 1948 she was united in marriage to Howard Nackers at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. Together they farmed The Nackers Century Dairy Farm in Wrightstown until retirement. Howard preceded her in death on June 21, 1996.

Long time members of St. Paul Catholic Church, Joyce was a member of The Christian Mother Society, Catholic Knights - receiving her Gold Rosary in 1994 and 70 year member in 2013. Joyce had a strong faith in her church. Joyce was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; being a special part of their lives and going to their programs and sporting events.

Joyce enjoyed card games, bowling, fishing, gardening, sewing, baking and spending time at their cottage. Joyce also enjoyed her time in Florida playing Bingo, Bunko and Skipbo, going to chipping class and spending time with her Florida friends.

Joyce is survived by her children; Marty and Linda (Hartwig) Nackers of Shawano, Peggy and Brian Hermann of Stockbridge, Sue and Bill Degroot of Englewood, Florida.

Her grandchildren; Keith and Ingrid Nackers, Lisa (Nackers) and Dan Schmidt, Adam and Kathleen Nackers, Leigha (Hermann) and Anthony Waikel, Noah Hermann, Amanda (DeGroot) and Jonathan Avila, Erica (DeGroot) and Ben Evenson, Breanna and Aaron DeGroot, Austin DeGroot.

Her great grandchildren; Tyler and Caden Nackers, Hailey and Hannah Nackers, Lauren and Elliana Schmidt, Eleanor Waikel, Maralyn Beck, Arabella and Braxton Evenson, Ezra DeGroot and step great granddaughter Madison Avila..

Her sister Jane Coffey, sisters in law Ione Geurts and Joan Geurts, many special nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Tom Geurts, William (Lefty) Geurts, and Sylvester and sister-in-law Angela Geurts, her sister Joan and brother in law Harvey Bowers, sister in law Rita Geurts, brother in law Don Coffey, nephew Denis Geurts, four grandchildren, two foster children, Howard’s parents; Martin and Mary (Nelessen) Nackers and family.

The family is planning for a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
