Longtime coach Thain Jones joins 920 Sports Podcast, talks about WIAA competitive balance plan and retirement

APPLETON − Former Freedom cross-country and boys track and field coach Thain Jones was the guest this week on the 920 Sports Podcast.
Jones, who retired last summer, had a coaching career that spanned 48 years for track and 32 for cross-country. He coached the Freedom boys track team for 37 years and was the boys and girls cross-country coach for 24 years.
Jones joined USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin's Ricardo Arguello, Brett Christopherson and Jim Rosandick to discuss retirement, his favorite memories as a coach and his thoughts on the ongoing WIAA competitive balance issue that has rankled cross-country coaches in the state.
