How Wisconsin's Carmen Kocourek found love and so much more on 'Love Island USA' season 5 with her partner Kenzo Nudo this summer
Carmen Kocourek and her partner, Kenzo Nudo, didn't win first place on "Love Island USA" but they were victorious in the most important way to them.
They won each other.
"I got what I came for," Kocourek, a 22-year-old Wisconsin native, said after she and Nudo finished in fourth place on Sunday's season finale of the sizzling summer reality streaming show that sends singles to a luxurious Fijian villa for six weeks in the hopes they'll find love and also provide some entertaining TV on Peacock.
There were steamy challenges, bombshells brought in to test the couples, messy breakups and tear-jerking reunions. But in the end, it appears love was found by many.
A cash prize was also on the line for the winners based on a fan vote.
And while Kocourek, a 2019 Franklin High School graduate, and Nudo didn't take home the $100,000 cash prize — that went to fellow unbreakable couple Hannah Wright and Marco Donatelli — they have an experience that will last a lifetime.
And maybe they found a relationship that will as well.
Here's a recap of the "Love Island USA" season finale for Kocourek and her journey in finding love, friendships and so much more.
Carmen Kocourek and Kenzo Nudo go on romantic date during 'Love Island USA' season finale
Each of the four couples on Sunday's finale was treated to a date that would rival fairytales.
There was a helicopter ride to a private island, a secret hideaway dinner in the forest and probably the most stunning makeshift swing overlooking the ocean.
But it's hard to top what Kocourek and Nudo experienced.
They were greeted by a Fijian choir before making their way to maybe one of the most romantic settings in Fiji — an area on the beach that was filled with flowers that created a heart. You could probably see the gorgeous pink petals from the sky. They sat in the middle of it and shared their love for each other.
"I didn't expect to fall for someone this deeply," Nudo told her. "I know you're the one."
Kocourek's glow afterward rivaled that of her yellow sun dress as she shared her love story with her fellow female islanders, all of whom she became fast friends with during their time on the show.
"He makes me feel so special every day and being able to sit there and be with the most stunning man I've ever seen in my life tell me he loves me and talk about our future together was every girl's dream," Kocourek said to the cameras upon returning.
Will Carmen and Kenzo stay together in the future after 'Love Island USA'?
If any of the four couples in the finale have a chance, Kocourek and Nudo have to be at the top of the list.
The two are both Scottsdale, Arizona, residents so that makes it easier to start in their post-"Love Island USA" experience when the cameras stop rolling.
And we already know their families approve of each other, something that's important to Kocourek, considering how close she is with her parents and how often she talked about their love repeatedly on the show.
It's clear everything is overdramatized for a viewer's pleasure and the rate of success for couples on shows like "The Bachelor," "The Bachelorette" and "Love Island USA" isn't great, but maybe Kocourek and Nudo are part of the small percentage that turn their reality TV love story into the real thing.
Heck, by the way Kocourek and Nudo were talking during the season finale, there could be a Fijian wedding next. Never mind they've only known each other for a few weeks in an environment that encourages passion at every corner.
Even host Sarah Hyland wanted to know if marriage is coming for these two while standing before the four couples, all 20-somethings who had their own ups and downs on the show.
"All the time," Nudo replied before the "Modern Family" actress announced the winner.
Kocourek laughed with her boyfriend's response and reminded everyone "we got to pace ourselves a little bit."
"It's coming pretty soon, I think," Nudo said.
But based on their declarations of love that each couple gave that resembled wedding vows in typical "Love Island" style, they may be practicing for a wedding.
"Becoming your girlfriend and saying I love you was the best part of my time in here," Kocourek told him, while standing in front of large lit-up archway and neon hearts. "I feel so lucky to be someone you think is deserving of your love because I truly do think you are the greatest person in this whole world."
What is Carmen and Kenzo's love story on 'Love Island USA'?
Kocourek met Nudo after he entered the villa on Day 10 of the show as a "bombshell." "Love Island USA" brings in new contestants throughout the season to see if they can form a stronger connection with a current islander than they have with their l partner. This, of course, can provide new tests to couples and either make them stronger or realize it wasn't meant to be.
To that point, Kocourek's "Love Island USA" journey was heavy on the drama with her previous partner and there was somewhat of a "love triangle" going on that Kocourek wanted to separate herself from. After all, she said repeatedly she wants a relationship that models her parents'. She called it "healthy love" on the show.
That appears to be what she found in Nudo, a 26-year-old Mexican-born travel videographer/photographer and former college basketball player who now lives in Arizona.
"Our initial spark was something I've never felt before," Kocourek told him during her declaration of love speech.
That was on display throughout their conversations shown on TV, from their light-hearted moments talking about their favorite ice cream flavors to their future kids' names, their chemistry and even by overcoming their only on-screen disagreement.
"The moment I laid eyes on you, it felt like I was at the right place at the right time," Nudo told her during his declaration of love speech. "It will always be you."
That's what Kocourek wants, too.
"My whole journey here and where I started, for the longest time, I couldn't figure out why I was here, like, why fate brought me here," Kocourek told Nudo during their date on the season finale. "I really felt like, 'Oh, maybe it was just a journey of like self-growth,' which it has been. I thought that was all it was going to be. So the fact that I came in and you came in, I just felt like I came here for you. My 'Love Island' journey was to meet you and it just felt like it was supposed to happen. And I can't wait to be with you forever."
