Milwaukee's own Trixie Mattel and partner David Silver are getting an HGTV series that will be produced by the Scott brothers
In 2022, Trixie Mattel fans got to see the drag superstar and her partner renovate a rundown Palm Springs motel they bought into a pink paradise. Now, the couple will be taking on a new project: Their Los Angeles dream home.
And again, the world will be able to tune in.
Mattel — who got her start in Milwaukee's drag scene — and David Silver are getting a new HGTV series called "Trixie Motel: Drag Me Home," according to a Tuesday news release. It'll be produced by Scott Brothers Entertainment, with Drew and Jonathan Scott of "Property Brothers" fame serving as executive producers.
This comes after the 2022 discovery+ airing of "Trixie Motel," which was also produced by Scott Brothers Entertainment.
“Trixie Motel quickly became a fan favorite program tapping into the outrageous vision that Trixie and David brought to life while also showing the sweet dynamic of their real-life relationship,” Loren Ruch, HGTV's head of content, said in the release. “Now we’ll get to check in on the couple’s progress as motel proprietors and watch them navigate the highs and lows of a personal renovation project while moving in together for the first time.”
"Trixie Motel: Drag Me Home" will feature four hourlong episodes set to air in summer 2024, according to the release.
Before appearing on season seven of "RuPaul's Drag Race" and winning season three of "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars," Mattel got her start in the Milwaukee drag scene. Mattel, aka Brian Firkus, is a co-owner of This is It!, the longest-running LGBTQ+ bar in Wisconsin and one of the oldest in the country.
Mattel is also a singer-songwriter and behind the Trixie Cosmetics company.
In addition to solo ventures, Mattel also frequently teams up with fellow drag superstar Katya Zamolodchikova. They do live shows together, have a podcast called “The Bald And The Beautiful," and wrote a New York Times best-selling book titled “Trixie and Katya's Guide to Modern Womanhood."
