Daniel Amsden, who goes by "Huggie," will join WIXX-FM in June as the new PM drive host.

GREEN BAY - WIXX-FM has found its replacement for Otis Day, and he has an on-air name that’ll be easy for listeners to get their arms around.

Daniel Amsden, who goes by “Huggie,” will join the staff as the new PM drive host on June 20. Current PM drive host Fife will move to the midday show, the slot Day was doing when he left the station in March after 24 years to pursue a career outside radio.

Huggie's radio experience includes markets in Las Vegas; Seattle; Boise, Idaho; and Portland, Oregon. The move to the contemporary hit radio station in Green Bay brings the Illinois native closer to family.

WIXX-FM, which is owned by Midwest Communications, did a nationwide search to replace Day, who was a longtime favorite with listeners.

“We are extremely excited about introducing ‘Huggie’ to the listeners of northeast Wisconsin,” WIXX brand manager Corey Carter said in a news release. “His unique personality, social media and imaging skills are top-notch. He always puts the listeners first, which is one of the reasons WIXX has been so successful for so long — he’ll fit in great!”

Here’s hoping he’s a hugger, because WIXX has announced it will welcome Huggie with a “Summer of 10K Hugs” campaign, in which he’ll give hugs and get selfies with 10,000 WIXX fans.
