The Edmonton Oilers (29-15-1) begin a 3-game road trip on Tuesday against the Vegas Golden Knights (29-15-6). Puck drop at T-Mobile Arena is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+/hulu). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Oilers vs. Golden Knightsodds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Oilers rolled into the All-Star break with a franchise-best 16 consecutive victories which started on Dec. 21. Edmonton can tie the record of 17 consecutive regular-season wins, accomplished by the Pittsburgh Penguins  in 1992-93.

Edmonton's previous franchise record was 9 straight victories, accomplished in the 2000-01 season, and it also eclipsed the record of 12 consecutive wins by a Canadian NHL franchise, set in 1967-68 by the Montreal Canadiens.

Vegas stumbled into the All-Star break with a 5-2 loss in Detroit against the Red Wings on Jan. 27, although the Golden Knights were a respectable 5-1-1 in the past 7 outings.

These teams met in Edmonton Nov. 28, with the Oilers outlasting the Golden Knights 5-4 in a shootout as the Over (6.5) comfortably connected. The home team has won 3 of the past 4 meetings in this series, with the Over cashing in each of the past 3 encounters.

Oilers at Golden Knights projected goalies

Stuart Skinner (23-9-1, 2.44 GAA, .910 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Adin Hill (12-2-2, 1.94 GAA, .936 SV%, 2 SO)

Skinner had a perfect January, going 9-0-0 with a 1.33 GAA and .953 SV% in 9 starts, allowing a total of just 12 goals on 254 shots. He has allowed 1 or 2 goals in each of his previous 11 appearances, too, and he hasn't lost since Dec. 19 in a road game against the New York Islanders.

Skinner was in between the pipes on Nov. 28 for the 5-4 SOW against the Golden Knights, allowing 4 goals on 27 shots in a wild game.

Hill returned from a 5-week absence due to injury, making 2 appearances in late January prior to the All-Star break. He appears back to his championship form, allowing just 4 goals on 80 shots, going 2-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and .950 SV% in the 2 assignments. He has not faced the Oilers this season.

Oilers at Golden Knights picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 3, Oilers 2

Moneyline

All good things must come to an end. The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (+110) are worth playing as short 'dogs on home ice, as Vegas denies the Oilers (-135) a chance to tie an NHL record.

VGK isn't an underdog on home ice very often, but when it is, the Golden Knights usually prove the books wrong. Vegas won 3-2 as underdogs on home ice Jan. 20 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, winning 3-2, and it blasted the visiting New York Rangers 5-1 on Jan. 18, also as a 'dog. In fact, Vegas is 4-1 in the past 5 games at home as an underdog.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Golden Knights +1.5 (-210) will cost you more than 2 times your potential return if you require a little bit of insurance, and you just can't bring yourself to play Vegas straight up.

AVOID, and play the Knights on the moneyline instead.

Over/Under

The UNDER 6 (+100) are worth playing at even-money.

The Oilers have not only been ticking off wins, but it's been all about the Under for Edmonton lately. The total has gone low in 10 straight games for the streaking Oilers.

For the Golden Knights, the Over is 3-1 in the previous 4 contests, although the Under has cashed in 9 of the past 14 games, while going 6-2 in the past 8 outings at The Fortress.
